Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." - Quran:Al-Kahf 18:86 (islam)
-Why some translation adds 'as if'?
- Is it a metaphysical matter?
- Does the earth flat?
- If the Sun has set down in mecca, how come the sun are still up in Africa, can it be down and up at the same moment?
Narrated Abu Dharr:
I was sitting behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) who was riding a donkey while the sun was setting. He asked: Do you know where this sets ? I replied: Allah and his Apostle know best. He said: It sets in a spring of warm water (Hamiyah). - Sahih:Abu Dawud:4002 (islam)
-In reality is there any moment and any place where the sun is not down?
Chapter: Characteristic of the sun and the moon
Narrated Abu Dhar:
The Prophet (ﷺ) asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All- Knowing." (36.38) - Sahih:Al Bukhari:3199 (islam)
-Does it prostrate when the night come?
- Since the world is round, does it mean it prostrate all the time?
- Can it prostrate and do not prostrate at the same time?
- If the sun prostrates in Jerusalem, can it shine in London?
- Is the world flat like a tapestry?
Narrated Abu Dharr:
Once I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) in the mosque at the time of sunset. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "It goes and prostrates underneath (Allah's) Throne; and that is Allah's Statement:-- 'And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (decreed). And that is the decree of All-Mighty, the All-Knowing....' (36.38) - Sahih:Al Bukhari:4802 (islam)
-Who says something like that, beside the ones who thinks the earth is flat?
Chapter: “…And His Throne was on the water…”
Narrated Abu Dharr:
I entered the mosque while Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was sitting there. When the sun had set, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where this (sun) goes?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "It goes and asks permission to prostrate, and it is allowed, and (one day) it, as if being ordered to return whence it came, then it will rise from the west." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) recited, "That: "And the sun runs on its fixed course (for a term decreed)," (36.38) as it is recited by `Abdullah. - Sahih:Al Bukhari:7424 (islam)
-Is it a sign of the End Time?
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. - Quran:Ya-Sin 36:38 (islam)
-Is the earth traveling around the earth or is it the sun travelling around the sun?
- Does it mean the sun travels in the sky and disappear at a fix term?
- How come God seems to describe a flat earth?
- Is it a metaphysical matter?
- When the sun is set, is it set for the entire earth or is it local?
Narrated Abu Dharr:
I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the Statement of Allah:-- 'And the sun runs on fixed course for a term (decreed), ' (36.38) He said, "Its course is underneath "Allah's Throne." (Prostration of Sun trees, stars. mentioned in Qur'an and Hadith does not mean like our prostration but it means that these objects are obedient to their Creator (Allah) and they obey for what they have been created for). - Sahih:Al Bukhari:4803 (islam)
-Is it the word of God or a man of the seven century?
Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. - Quran:Al-Baqarah 2:258 (islam)
-How dumb would you need to forget to ask a proof for such an affirmation?
- Don't you think this is a pure fabrication?
